Where you sleep in Poole changes the holiday more than it does in most towns, because the harbour splits the place into quite distinct areas.
By the sea
Sandbanks and Canford Cliffs are the beach options: hotels with sea or harbour views, and the sand a short walk away. They are the most expensive part of town.
By the water
The Quay and the Old Town put you among the restaurants, the boat trips and the evening life, with self-catering flats overlooking the moorings.
Inland and across the water
Ashley Cross, Hamworthy and Broadstone are quieter and better value, with bed and breakfasts and guest houses. For camping and glamping and holiday parks, look across the harbour towards the Purbecks.
