Poole photographs well because it has water on three sides of almost everything.
The Quay
Masts, the lifting bridge opening, and working boats against Georgian frontages. Best early, before the crowds. See Poole Quay.
The Old Town
Narrow lanes, the Guildhall, Scaplen's Court and doorways that have not changed in two centuries. See Old Town.
The harbour at sunset
The harbour faces broadly west, so the evening light comes straight down it. Baiter, Hamworthy and Upton Country Park all look into it.
The coast
The chines cutting down to the sand at Canford Cliffs, Sandbanks at the harbour mouth with the chain ferry crossing, and Old Harry Rocks from the Studland coast path.
Wildlife
Red squirrels and lagoon birds on Brownsea Island. Bring a long lens and patience.
